Liturgy of the Word for Children (LWC)

The parish would like to begin Liturgy of the Word for Children at the 10:30 mass beginning in September and we are looking for teachers for the children grades 1st – 4th . LWC is an extension of the main assembly celebration. It draws children into the liturgy at their own level which will enable them to participate and understand what is proclaimed in the celebrations. In church (before the first reading) the children and teachers will be dismissed to a separate room. The teachers will proclaim from the children’s lectionary, discuss the message with the children and apply it to their everyday life. The children with say the creed and share their petitions. They will then return to their families. Two teachers will be schedule on a Sunday. Volunteers will need to be in compliance with the safe environment program through the archdiocese.
