The programs below are just some of the groups SCL United supports throughout the school year. We are always looking for others to get more involved and will update the list below frequently with ways to get involved. You can reach us direclty SCLUnited@sclparish.org.
Programs:
GotSneakers - GotSneakers partners with the sneaker community to recycle and reuse quality pre-loved sneakers through fundraising at SCL.
Lent Sandwich Making - Fifth grade will lead K-4 in assembling sandwiches for St. Vincent De Paul and making homemade cards on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Little Bit Foundation - The 6th grade will assemble care bags for children to access at the Little Bit Foundation. A small group of 6th graders will be chosen to visit the Foundation after sharing about their experience through an essay.
Vincentian Christmas Card Program - The 4th grade class will ask SCL Parish families to help make homemade Christmas cards for the Vincentian Advent Collection to go along with generous gift card donations.
SCL Fish Fry - Volunteers will be needed to serve food and make desserts for the annual SCL Fish Fry during Lent.
Ladies of Charity Coat Drive - The Ladies of Charity and Louisettes host a bi-yearly coat drive in October and January that will benefit the St. Vincent De Paul Society and Church.
St. Vincent DePaul meal serving - We will be encouraging SCL parishioners with those in 7th grade or above to serve meals at St. Vincent DePaul throughout the school year.
Breakfast with Santa - We will be in need of 7th and 8th grade volunteers to support The Knights of Columbus when they host Breakfast with Santa.
Victory Garden - Ann Marie Hawkins will continue to lead the charge on the Victory Garden, working with SCL teachers to educate students on how the garden benefits the Affton Food Pantry, along with the benefits of growing our own food and providing an opportunity to unite with the older parishioners after mass on Thursday.
Cedarhurst Nursing Home - The Kindergarten class will visit the nursing home in costume around Halloween to bring some fun Halloween spirit. In December, the first grade class will perform their Christmas pageant at Cedarhurst for the residents.
Speaker's Series - SCL United will host multiple speakers to discuss important topics with the parish and day school communitiy.
